Christmas is celebrated every year on the 25th of December with full enthusiasm among the whole Christian community. Christianity is believed to be founded by Jesus Christ so Christians celebrate Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ. The birth of Jesus is considered to be huge event in the history of the world. Around the Christmas, you will see everyone decorating their houses, workplaces, streets in the theme of Christmas. The family tends to get together to celebrate Christmas Day together as most parents don’t live with their kids due to work or other reasons. So they take the opportunity to meet the family and spend some quality time with them.
The celebrations for the festival start around four weeks prior to the Christmas Day. People around the world celebrate the festival in their own unique ways in addition to the old mainstream ways. Some of the common practices for the celebration of the festival is Bringing home the Christmas tree and decorate it with candies, confetti, bells, flowers etc, Distribute and donate gifts to children, Prepare some delicious Christmas cuisines, invite family and friends at your place.
Other than these usual things, some people like to keep the celebration a bit different and unique in their own way. Here are some of the ideas for celebrating Christmas in a different way this season. Please note that these are only ideas and not any mandatory practices to be followed on or around the Christmas Day.
1.Try to be a Santa for poor
Never forget the poor who cannot afford to have the same kind of luxurious celebrations and the kind of food we cherish during the Christmas. While you visit the Church, Take the initiative to share the festive happiness with the poor by giving them gifts like blankets, beds, utensils, or cook food for them and serve it to them. They will give you blessings and what else will be better on such a joyous occasion. Kids can donate their toys to the poor kids to spread love among them.
Plan a picnic with your family especially if you don’t live with them and are visiting them on the occasion of the festival. Take them out and talk to them, tell about how your life is going on in your city, tell them about the new people you’ve met in the new city, tell them how much you miss being with them. You can invite your relatives, family friends and spend time with them, on some open picnic spots on the outskirts of your city. Delightful family meetings make the atmosphere around the festive more cheerful as there it creates optimism all around.
3.Feed animals and birds
This is something that everyone should do everyday but for those many people who don’t often feed the animals and birds, they should take out the opportunity of this occasion to spread happiness not only among themselves but also with all different forms of life. Keep some food outside your house or on the terrace for the birds.
4.Look back at the year
Write down the good memories of the whole year in a blank book or even paste relative pictures with them. Try to make a habit of making this memory book on every Christmas. Click a full family picture and paste it in the book. Try doing this every year on Christmas, It feels amazing to see the old family pictures. Get nostalgic reading all the books from previous years and realize how your life has been changing.
Take a time out to talk to small children at the church or schools. Educate them about the festival with interesting story-telling. Enlighten them up about Jesus Christ, who was he and why people consider him as their God. Tell the children about history of Santa Claus and how on Christmas eve he rides on his sleigh to reach different homes to give presents to children. You can also educate your younger siblings and tell them how your parents made you believe in Christmas and Santa Claus.
6.Watch Christmas movies
You can spend some good time with your loved ones by watching a nice Christmas movie together. This will call for a joyous family moment and even enlighten kids about the Christmas and Jesus Christ. There are many amazing movies which have beautifully depicted the birth of Jesus, his good deeds, his death, why he is considered God, etc.
Have an interesting talking sessions with people, tell them about how your belief in God has developed over the years, how there were times when you realized that god exists and he has helped you getting nourished in your life. On such a precious occasion, everyone should talk about the existence of God and how he effects the life of every person.
8.Have a fun ride
You can decorate your car with some Christmas decoration things and drive it around the town. All eyes peeking on your car. Please note that avoid over-decorating your ride otherwise you will end up making a fool of yourself. A genuine and limited decorations would be fine.
Christmas tree is an iconic thing in the history of Christmas celebration. But does it always have to be a tree only? At this point everyone should get into their creative mode and try making a Christmas tree out of literally anything. In many homes you will find creative decorations like decorations depicting the life of Jesus or Santa Claus riding his sleigh.
10.Throw a party
Why to wait a week for the New Year celebrations. If this is the time when your loved ones are around you then why not to throw a Christmas cum New Year party and enhance the celebrations to another level.
