In honor of world AIDS day, Apple is supporting global charity(RED) for the tenth year running in its fight to end AIDS founded by rock singer Bono, Chief Executive Tim Cook. To achieve a generation that is AIDS-free at birth, by ending cases where mothers transmit the disease to their children. The new products continue the company’s tradition of charitable efforts and long standing support of (RED)’s mission to provide medical relief to AIDS stricken regions of Africa, and there are other ways to help out even if you have no intentions of buying hardware. The company will turn their logos red or features (RED) window decals to raise visibility for World AIDS Day in Apple’s most wide spread implementation of support for (RED) at more than 400 of its stores. It is also offering free download of Spike Jonze’s 2010 AIDS documentary about Red, “The Lazarous Effect,” to all iTunes users. And it has worked with the band The Killers to release their new special album “Don’t Waste Your Wishes” on iTunes.
Additionally, purchasing anything at Apple store ( physical or online) through Apple Pay between now December 6th will donate $1 towards(RED), up to a maximum of $1 million. Interestingly, Bank of America will match that donation for Apple Pay payments made with its cards from December 1-7. (RED)’s critical work addresses the disparity in access to life saving
medication in sub- Saharan Africa, which has the highest prevalence of AIDS on the Planet. The money raised by (RED) funds
