Many top Ministers and Politicians flew in to attend the wedding of Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s Ketki, who is youngest among three siblings. The wedding was held in Nagpur on Sunday, and it was attended by a large number of luminaries including the Ministers Rajnath Singh and Venkaiah Naidu; BJP President Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev. Over 10,000 guests, most of them VVIPs who attended the wedding flown to the city in 50 charter flights on Sunday.
The VVIP guests’ list also include former deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray.
The wedding was celebrated in Rani Kothi on Wardha Road in Nagpur. A similar gathering of all the VVIPs happened in Nagpur when Gadkari’s eldest son, Nikhil married in December 2010.
Although the marriage function on Sunday saw some few luminaries on the guest list, as the marriage function was basically only for close relatives and friends. Not many VIPs have been invited. For VIP guests, two reception programs, one at Nagpur and the other one at Delhi, have been arranged. The much larger number is expected to attend the reception that is going to be held on December 6 and December 8, respectively
During the time, all top VVIPs Ministers and Politicians like President, Prime Minister, Union Ministers and many others from ruling and opposition parties have been invited to the Delhi reception and the Nagpur reception which is going to be held on 6th and 8th of December will host state ministers, MLAs, journalists, industrialists and people from other walks of life,” according to the sources.
The two-week winter session of the Maharashtra state legislature also establish here from December 5 and hence almost all legislators are expected to attend the wedding.
But there was a whisper of the objection of such a lavish display of wealth, particularly when the Narendra Modi government demonetized high-value currency notes. “Such a lavish wedding supposedly goes against the RSS i:e Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ethos, as Gadkari was also groomed in RSS culture and is still a swayamsevak said a senior swayamsevak.
