Reliance Jio has written to Trai (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) seeking extension up to December 29 to send in its revert to sought Trai queries on why additional time of free voice and data plan should not be seen as breach of in circulation standards and norms which requires promotional offers to be limited to three months. Earlier this month on December 20 Trai had written to Reliance Jio asking the business undertaking to elucidate within five days i.e. on 25th Dec reasons of ‘Happy New Year offer’why it should not be seen as “violation” of regulatory guidelines and also the reasons of the free data offer under the promotional scheme should not be treated as “predatory”.
As per the reports, Reliance Jio has now written to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India asking for extension i.e. extra time up to December 29 to send in its revert. Moreover, An e-mail sent to Jio did not receive any revert. Previous week, as per Trai which is keenly observing Jio’s novel promotional offer that initial examination of the this offer filed with a case of professional misconduct its likely to be an extension of the previous promotional offer more than three months. In conjunction to this, Trai has now also asked Reliance Jio to provide an approximate estimation month-wise projection of the number of subscribers that are anticipated to be imbibed till March 31, 2017.
