Consumer Electronics Show 2017 is ready to commence on 5th January in Las Vegas. This is the 50th edition of one of the world’s biggest electronic exhibition. The first CES was held in 1967 in New York City. It featured 250 exhibitors and was able to attract 17,500 guests. Since that time, The convention has been able to attract more than millions of people from around the world. All these years there has been a huge increase in these numbers. The last CES which was held in January 2016 saw 3,886 exhibitors and attracted 177,393 people.
The show has been the platform for the launch of the so many great innovations in the field of the electronics such as camcorder, CD player, Xbox, Plasma TV, 3D printing etc. Many tech giants have also been a part of the CES including Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Founder of SpaceX, Paypal and Tesla Elon Musk.
As this year’s event is going to be 50th anniversary of CES, The organizers have promised the event to be bigger than ever. Some of the big companies like Apple and Google now have their own events to launch their products or make announcements. But still a large number of companies like Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic still rely on CES event to launch their smartphones, TVs, home appliances etc.
The official running days for the event will be from January 5th to January 8th, However products will be unveiled from January 2 and the big announcements from the companies will be made on 3rd and 4th January on press days. Las Vegas has been the venue for the event since many years with Las Vegas Convention Centre to be the centre point. CES 2016 New York was spread across the area of 2.48 million square feet of total space for the exhibition.
For this year there would be speeches from some of the prominent people from the electronic industry like Qualcomm Chief Executive Steve Mollenkopf, Nissan Chief Carlos Ghosn, Under Armour Chief Kevin Plank and Head of Huawei Consumer Business Group Richard Yu. Some of the companies which are expected to release their products at the convention includes LG, Bosch, Huawei, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Toyota.
One of the main focuses for the event would be the talks about 5G internet technology. Everyone is expecting keynote speeches about 5G internet connectivity and its lightning fast speed. Other important things to look out for in this year’s CES would be Virtual Reality gears, self-driving cars, Artificial Intelligence. Many companies are going to launch their Virtual Reality products this year at the event.
