The wait is over for the much awaited compact car Maruti Suzuki Ignis as the company has decided to launch the car on January 13. The company has started taking the online booking orders as the car is under waiting period of three weeks after the launch date. Online booking is accepted with a token money of INR 11,000. The car will be launched at an Axwell EDM concert in Delhi. A trailer was released regarding the information of the car’s launch event and it featured Axwell in the video and the release date.
Ignis is powered by 1.2 litre petrol engine which will generate 84 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine delivering 74 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines will get a five speed manual gearbox but ‘Zeta’ and ‘Delta’ variants will have Automatic transmission option.
The top level variant of the car is known as ‘Alpha’ which will be fully equipped with loads of features like daytime running lights, LED projector headlamps and alloy wheels. Alloy wheel option will also be present in ‘Zeta’ variant. The top variant will also get touchscreen infotainment system whereas ‘Zeta’ and ‘Delta’ variants will get basic audio system. All the variants except the base variant will get the steering wheel-mounted audio controls, bluetooth and USB. Automatic climate control will also be one of the features in ‘Alpha’ variant and ‘Zeta’ will get a push start button, also available in ‘Alpha’. On the safety end, the car is equipped with dual front airbags with ABS and EBD in all the available variants.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis is speculated to be one of the biggest launches of the company in 2017 and also this will be the first big car launch of 2017. The car has been in the headlines in automobile world since it was first showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. If we judge from the pictures, The car has a very fresh blend of looks if we compare it to its counterparts. It gives a sporty look to the hatchback. Ignis will be third car from Maruti Suzuki to be only sold at the NEXA dealerships.
The car is ready to take on its top competitor Hyundai i10 which has large number of likes. The company has high hopes for Ignis as their last biggest launch Maruti Vitara Brezza has become a huge success and it is still going strong in the compact SUV market. Also Maruti has always been people’s choice in this hatchback segment with the successful sales of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Ritz, A-star.
